BJP workers also burnt Qureishi?s effigy and demanded his immediate dismissal from the State Government. BJP workers also burnt Qureishi’s effigy and demanded his immediate dismissal from the State Government.

Addressing the dharna, BJP MLA Shyam Deo Roychaudhary said Qureshi’s statement was against the Constitution of India and that the State Government should initiate disciplinary action against him. “He should be arrested and action be initiated against him,” he demanded.

He alleged that Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav was engaged in appeasing the Muslims and did not have the courage to take action against Qureishi.

The speakers expressed concern over Qureishi’s announcement and said it was a serious matter that a minister was giving statements against the Constitution of India.

They have urged the Supreme Court to take immediate notice of such announcements and to initiate action against the guilty minister.

BJP leader arrested for rape
THE SONEBHADRA police arrested a local BJP leader and former member of the zila panchayat, on charges of rape, from Dhorawal area, 30-kilometre from the district headquarters, on Tuesday.

According to information, the minor tribal girl worked as a domestic helper in the leader’s house. He reportedly raped her four months back and threatened her of dire consequences if she told anyone about it.

However, when the girl’s parents recently came to know about the incident, they contacted some CPI (ML) leaders in the district and lodged an FIR against the BJP leader. Soon after the complaint, the police investigated the case and arrested the alleged rapist.
