BJP suspends 7 cross-voters

REACTING QUICKLY to cross-voting in violation of the party whip, the BJP on Tuesday suspended seven MLAs with immediate effect. It simultaneously initiated proceedings for their expulsion from the party.

REACTING QUICKLY to cross-voting in violation of the party whip, the BJP on Tuesday suspended seven MLAs with immediate effect. It simultaneously initiated proceedings for their expulsion from the party.

Apart from this, State BJP president Keshari Nath Tripathi announced late on Tuesday night that he would soon file a petition before Vidhan Sabha Speaker Mata Prasad Pandey for disqualification of the suspended legislators.

The BJP legislators who have been suspended are: Ganga Bux Singh (Unnao), Phagu Chauhan (Mau), Amarjit Singh Jansewak (Fatehpur), Ram Prasad Chaudhary (Basti), Chote Lal Verma (Agra), Badhshah Singh (Hamirpur) and Puran Singh Bundela (Lalitpur).

The proceedings for expulsion of the already suspended BJP MLA Sandip Agarwal (Moradabad) have also been initiated.
