THE BHARATIYA Janata Party (BJP) is all set to draw political mileage from Vande Matram controversy. After announcement by Public Relations Minister Narendra Singh Tomar that the government would ensure recital of the national song at a maximum number of public places on September 7, the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) has decided to organise Vande Matram rallies at all the 584 mandals in the State on the day, which would mark the centenary celebrations of the national song.
The BJP district unit has already declared that it would monitor the singing of the national song at public places and schools, particularly the missionaries’ schools. If the missionaries’ schools fail to comply with the government’s instructions, they would lodge their protest against the same through democratic means.
BJYM State president Dheeraj Pateria said in a statement today that the BJYM activists would organise the rallies at all the 584 mandals on a massive scale.
Pateria said there were certain elements that unnecessarily raised controversy over singing of Vande Matram. Raising controversy over Vande Matram was tantamount to hurting the feelings of crores of people of the country. It was also tantamount to bringing disrepute to those freedom fighters who fell prey to the British regime’s bullets, while reciting Vande Matram.
He said Motherland held supreme place in all the religions then how Vande Matram could come in the way of any religion, he asked.

{{/usCountry}}Pateria said Vande Matram found place in our Constitution. By raising their voice against Vande Matram certain Members of Parliament had raised question against their commitment to the Constitution. The BJYM activists would expose the mindset of such MPs.
Meanwhile, the State BJP minority cell president Kamalbhai Lalbhai has in a statement termed the opposition to Vande Matram as a political gimmick.
