The party would also initiate legal proceedings against State Electricity Minister Arcot N Veerasamy for having issued statements "inciting violence" on the Vedanti issue and against Union Minister T R Baalu for "casting aspersions" on the judiciary, he said.

A decision to this effect was taken at the party's state central committee meeting held in Chennai, he said in a statement.

Ganesan said no political party in the state was opposed to the Sethusamudram project. The parties were just divided into two groups -- those who wanted to demolish the Ram Setu had gathered under the DMK, while those who wanted to implement the project without destroying the Ram Setu were on the other side.

The party had also decided to launch a campaign at village level about the Sethusamudram project, the history of Ram and the Ram Setu, he said.

It was also decided to move court to get a remedy for the recent attack on the party's state headquarters and functionaries, allegedly by DMK cadres, he added.
