The police resorted to lathi-charge when the agitators were trying to block rail traffic.

Later, the police arrested the BJYM members and took them to police lines.
The agitation was part of t he state party leadership’s call to hit the streets against the price rise and the poor law and order situation.

Hardly 50 BJYM workers led by its district president Sri Krishna Dixit assembled at Gumti Gurudwara Crossing and blocked the road.

This led to traffic gridlock. When the police failed to pacify the agitated members, the police used mild force. The BJYM members then made a bid to block rail traffic at the Gumti railway crossing. This infuriated the police and district administration officials. The police then to lathicharge on the agitating BJYM workers.

The agitators again reached the Gurudwara Crossing and blocked the road.
The blockade resulted in traffic jam from Rawatpur to Tatmill Crossing.
The police then arrested some BJYM members and took them to police lines. District BJP president from North City Rakesh Sonker addressing the BJYM members condemned the police high handedness.

He said that holding peaceful demonstration and protest was the fundamental right of every political party in a democratic set-up.
