Pardhan Singh was killed on the dera premises in the wee hours of May 16.

The police were under tremendous pressure to arrest Karanvir. Meanwhile, SSP Rakesh Aggarwal has announced a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh to anyone who will help in nabbing the suspect.

Aggarwal told mediapersons that the CIA staff had caught Karanvir on Sunday night from the house of one Ranjit Kaur at Qila Barun village and recovered an AK 47 rifle, a hand grenade, three magazines, two detonators, a wireless set, a timer and 1.5-kg RDX.

“Karanvir was brought to the CIA police station for interrogation at around 1 am, but he escaped from the bathroom window three hours later,” he claimed, adding that an ASI, a munshi, two head constables and a Home Guard jawan had been suspended for dereliction of duty.

He added that Karanvir admitted to have links with BKI militants Narain Singh Chaura and Pal Singh and that he had been sent to plan major strikes in Punjab.

Two separate cases have been registered against the duo under the Explosives Act and Arms Act. Ranjit Kaur has been arrested.
