He also did not rule out involvement of, Pakistani Army, ISI or SIMI in the recent terror attacks in Mumbai and Srinagar. “Some youths of the Muslim community in India could also be instrumental behind these attacks”, he said.

“It is a great shame that the so called jihadis are committing such dastardly acts of violence in the name of Islam. Nothing can be more un-Islamic than these horrifying inhuman acts”, he said, adding, “This game is being played for power and pelf by a section of Pakistani Army.”

“These terrorists can not carry out such powerful blasts without the support of ISI. Lashkar-e-Tayyiba which is suspected to be behind such acts, can not sustain itself without active help from ISI.”

“What happened on terrible Tuesday is also partly an intelligence failure. Though it is very difficult to predict when and where terrorists will choose to attack, it becomes all the more necessary to be very very alert”, he added.

Dr Engineer said that there was an urgent need to intensify the confidence building measure and peace process so that these terrorists might not get success in their nefarious designs. He said Pakistani itself was reeling under regional and sectarian violence and there was widespread resentment among citizens of Pakistan against terror strikes in Mumbai and Srinagar.
