The sutra from the Bible is a classical example of achieving self-realization or being in touch with one's consciousness. The God here represents the soul, true self or the consciousness. By nature consciousness is eternal, pure, immortal, unborn, everlasting, loving and truthful.

One of the pathways to see the God or to be with one's consciousness is to purify one's heart. The word purification here means removing ama (toxic material) from the mind.

Purity means devoid of sin. In Bhagwat Gita five sins have been described as "attachment, desire, anger, greed and ego". Many scholars consider the triad of " doubt, expectation and denial" (DED) as sins. The Yoga Sutra of Patanjli has described that any negativity in "thought, speech or action" is a sin. One should not have negative thoughts, should not speak negative and should not do anything, which is negative.

Even following Mahatma Gandhi's principles ("see no evil, speak no evil and hear no evil) one can attain purity. Purity at your heart also means taking conscious based decisions. Any decision, which is taken against consciousness remains in the body as a repressed thought and ultimately will come out in the form of an internal disease.

Before taking any decision one should ask oneself the following three questions - Is it the truth, is it necessary, will it being happiness to me and to people around me?

If any of the answer is No then the decision is against the consciousness and one should not take it. In the Mahabharata at the battle of Kurukshetra between the Pandavas and Kauravas (good and the evil) Lord Krishna had described only two exceptions to the above. Any truth, which can harm others, may not be spoken and any lie, if it is benefiting the mankind, and not harming anyone can be spoken. In the above two conditions even sin becomes nectar.
