The 2012 season will be the longest in history - with a record 21 races. The addition will be the new United States (US) GP, not in the Indy speedway, but in a new F1 circuit developed in Austin, Texas.
The two back-to-back overtime seasons will take a toll on all the teams, not just the drivers.
"The two long seasons will make things very difficult for all teams - the team officials, the engineers, the drivers. The season has become so winding, that we hardly get much time to rest," bemoaned Karthikeyan.
