A 29-year-old engineer with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) was found hanging at the BMC office in Kurla on Sunday morning.
The police said the CCTV cameras installed in the office have partially recorded Nandkishore Gadekar committing suicide on Saturday night.
The engineer’s family members said he seemed frustrated with his work and that could have led him to end his life.
A case of accidental death was registered. No suicide note was found.
Gadekar had been working with the BMC for the past four years.
He had been staying in a housing society at Nehru Nagar in Kurla (E) for one and half years.
His brother, Rakesh, who is preparing for his medical exams, came to stay with him around six months ago.
“Gadekar did not return home on Saturday night and Rakesh assumed that he had stayed back in office to finish pending work,” said police inspector Jaiprakash Giram of the Kurla police station.
“The security guards on duty knocked at his door at around 11 pm but he didn’t open the door. They assumed that either he was engrossed in work or resting,” said a security guard posted at the ward office.
“When the BMC staff again knocked at the door on Sunday morning and he didn’t respond, the security guards had to climb a ladder to peep in through the ventilator. They found him hanging,” the guard added.

{{/usCountry}}The police will question Gadekar’s brother, colleagues and superiors whether he was stressed in any way — personal or professional.
“We are also going through the CCTV footage to look for clues,” added Bagwe.
Rakesh said his brother did not like the BMC work and continued with the job to earn for the family.
He was frustrated and would always say that he wanted to quit.
The BMC is conducting parallel investigation into the matter.
“We couldn’t see everything as the camera was fixed,” said B.M. Salve, in charge of the L ward office.
He also added that the civic body has not handed over the footage to the police and they would do so if required. “Gadekar was sincere and committed,” added Salve.
