BHOPAL MUNICIPAL Corporation (BMC) authorities have shelved its much-publicised project of on-line citizen facility centres (CFCs), which was inspired by the e-seva model of Hyderabad. The BMC had invited expression of interest in this regard in April last year.
The project of online CFCs at five places was prepared about a year ago and expression of interest was invited in April last year. However, no action was taken in this direction due to the apathy of BMC administration towards computerised facilities.
One such centre was opened at 10 No Market but it has become a revenue collection office of the BMC. The BMC administration had promised several facilities through such centres. This include online information of property tax dues.
According to information, three companies responded to this expression of interest. These companies include Ram Informatics, which had established e-seva model in Hyderabad. This company had submitted the proposal with local company, C-net Infotech.
Besides, ABM Knowledgeware of Mumbai and an Indore based non-government organisation – NICT had also submitted their offers. ABM Knowledgeware had established citizens facilitation centres in Mumbai. However, the financial bid of these companies has not been opened so far.
Sources said the repeated administrative changes in the BMC had scuttled the process of setting up these CFCs. On the other hand, officials have said the BMC was not prepared to implement such projects as the computerisation of various BMC departments was already pending.
