A local court in Gurgaon on Thursday rejected permission to police to carry out the identification parade of the main accused in the BMW hit-and-run case in which two people, including a pregnant woman, lost their lives on May 5.
The court of chief judicial magistrate (CJM) Jasbir Singh had on Wednesday reserved its order till Thursday on the police's plea for a test identification parade (TIP), collecting blood sample and driving licence of Suraj Sehrawat (19), son of the BMW car owner and main accused in the case.
Sehrawat's lawyer Vishal Gupta later said, "Where's the logic of an identification parade when he surrendered in full public and media glare. Also, such an exercise has no authenticity."

The Gurgaon police were under fire from the first day for its shoddy investigation in the case. But if the court doesn't allow for Sehrawat's TIP and collecting his blood samples, on which the police are relying heavily, it would weaken the police case against Suraj, minimising his conviction chances.

{{/usCountry}}Sources said one of the eyewitness has a mobile video footage of Suraj and his friend Daksh Jaiswal (19) being pulled out through the front windows of the BMW car after its doors were jammed due to the accident.
The footage, if true, will be a crucial evidence against Suraj, who has been claiming that he was sitting on the back seat when the accident took place.
Gurgaon police have also asked for Suraj's driving licence and, if he doesn't have one, a case will be slapped against him under the Motor Vehicles Act.
