In 2008, Nike had inked a 10-year extension deal with tennis ace Roger Federer. Sports Business Journal estimated the deal to be about $13 million a year. Spanish paper Marca reported in February 2010 that Nike were signing a deal with Real Madrid striker Cristiano Ronaldo worth almost $37m for four years.

In 1996, Tiger Woods had signed a 5-year deal with Nike worth $40m.
