One explosion occurred near a stall selling miniature Pakistani flags for this country's Independence Day, which fell on Monday, in Hub, an industrial town about 20 kms northwest of the southern city of Karachi, area police official Qamar-uz Zaman said.

Two people were killed and three were wounded, Zaman said. A second bomb destroyed a barber shop in Pakistan's restive southwestern Balochistan province, local police official Attaullah Mengal said. Three people were hurt.

The bomb was planted in a bathroom at the shop in the town of Naushki, about 120 kms southwest of Balochistan's regional capital of Quetta, Mengal said. The victims were in stable condition.

It was not immediately clear who was behind the blasts nor if they were connected.

Police said the barber shop may have been targeted because its owner came from the eastern Punjab province.

Authorities often blame anti-government ethnic Baloch tribesmen for small-scale bombings, rocket attacks on railroads, gas fields and gas pipelines in Balochistan.
