The festival, which began on August 1, was attracting children from various schools and when a group of school children came on Thursday to watch the movies, they were made to wait outside the auditorium following the threat.
Police, with the help of sniffer dogs and bomb disposal squad, made a thorough search. But the threat proved to be a hoax. However, unwilling to take any risk, authorities cancelled the screening of films on Thursday, police said.
Police said a teacher had received an anonymous call on Wednesday evening that a bomb was planted inside the film festival venue and it would go off this morning. When she informed the police this morning, a search was conducted.
