Sexy sirens, Bollywood stars, wild animals in even wilder environs, paintings by masters, sketches made by the specially-abled and even popular advertising mascots — calendars for 2010 are getting more and more dramatic.
While construction group Raheja’s calendar has babes for every month, Elite Model Management Institute’s calendar has beauties posing agasint the rustic backdrops of Rajasthan. Discovery Channel has used thrilling wildlife shots and Delhi-based art gallery Gallery Nvya has paintings by masters like Arpana Caur and Jayasri Burman on its calendar. Artist Niladri Paul’s art calendar for the year, titled ‘Arangham’, ushers in every month with his trademark paintings.
Photographer Atul Kasbekar, who has shot the Kingfisher calendar in Goa this year, says, “It is just getting bigger and bigger every year. This year, a couple of girls were chosen through a reality show. We’ve tourist boards approaching us every year to shoot at their location, so it is all very gratifying.”
Photographer Dabboo Ratnani, who has shot three calendars for 2010, including one which is his own says, “This is my eleventh edition, which I have shot with 24 actors — 12 male and 12 female. There is Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif, Shah Rukh Khan etc.”

Photographed by Rajesh Ramakrishnan and Aloke Bose, the calendar for NGO Child Survival India has black and white photographs of actors like KK Menon, Konkona Sen and , Juhi Chawla. Sales of these calendars (at Rs 300) will raise money for the NGO.

Also out is the PETA 2010 calendar, which can be bought free of cost. You can pay a donation of Rs 300 to the organisation, get a tax exemption receipt and also get a calendar along with it.
