Indicating that reports of Chinese incursions into Indian territory in recent days were true, China on Thursday said the issue of incursion by Chinese civilians and members of People’s Liberation Army (PLA) soldiers has been sorted through a dialogue with the Indian side.
Several reports in the Indian media — during the run-up to and now during President Xi Jinping’s high-profile visit to India — said Chinese citizens not only crossed over the Line of Actual Control (LAC) but also interfered in the work being done by Indian workers.
Reports said on Thursday that armed personnel from both countries were locked in a stand-off in the Ladakh area, casting a shadow of unease over Xi’s visit.
Answering a question on the reported stand-off, foreign ministry spokesperson, Hong Lei, said that both countries had resolved the issue through effective communication.
“China and India attach great importance to the incident you mentioned. It has been effectively controlled with immediate effect and communication and managed,” Hong said.
Hong added that both countries have worked together on the disputed border issue and maintained peace along the adjacent areas.

{{/usCountry}}“The border issue is a left over issue (from history). China and India, though mechanism and consultations, have maintained peace in the border areas for many years,” Hong said.
Quoting Xi, Hong said: “China and India relations today is attributed to the strategic mutual trust and communication between the two countries as well as the expanded cooperation areas and mutual beneficial cooperation between the two countries.”
