The sudden firing by Pakistan on Thursday night caught locals off guard. All the three victims on Thursday were hit by the same shell which fell in the Arnia town around 9 pm. The victims were identified as Darshan Lal (45), a barber; Vivek Kumar (35), a provisional store owner and Poly Devi (50), a housewife.

While Poly Devi and Darshan Lal's injuries are not serious, the condition of Vivek Kumar is still critical, as he has suffered splinter injuries in legs, hands and abdomen.

Peeved over the unabated shelling, especially in Arnia town, the brother of injured Darshan Lal said, "For the last six months, we are living under constant fear. Pakistan is turning aggressive with every passing day. I do not know why it (Pakistan) is targeting the civilian areas."

Wife of Vivek Kumar is totally aghast by grave injuries to her husband. "I do not know what will happen to our family. He is the only earning member of our family, how will I support my two daughters. As soon as Vivek entered the lane after downing the shutter of the provisional store, he was hit by mortar shell and immediately fell unconscious. Later, he was shifted to the Government Medical College Hospital," said his wife.
