Bordering villages get better response

The constituencies of bordering Ferozepur district have witnessed a comparatively better polling percentage.

Even as the polling turn out remained low so far, the constituencies of bordering Ferozepur district have witnessed a comparatively better polling percentage. By 1 pm, as per reports, percentage of polling was 29 per cent throughout the district. HT team visited border polling station, enthusiastic response was seen and despite inclement weather, long queues of old and young voters were seen.

As per the reports Sidharth Rinwa son of Congress nominee and sitting MLA Falizika Dr Mohinder Rinwa, had a scuffle with the ITBP personnel deputed at ward number 2 of Fazilka assembly constituency. Minor incidents of violence in some areas of district including village Khalchia under Ferozepur city assembly segment were also reported. One person was also injured and hospitalised.

Reports said that in Balluana constituency of Ferozepur district, a head constable on duty, Hari Singh, attempted to commit suicide. He was taken to civil hospital Fazilka, from where he was referred to Ludhiana hospital. Meanwhile some of the EVMs developed some snag in Gurdaspur and Pathankot due to which polling was disrupted for a while.

Over all till about 1 pm, 30 per cent polling was witnessed.
