The speculation about what happened to Netaji in his final days and the gradual declassification of secret files on him are almost taking the shape of Agatha Christie novels, economist Amartya Sen remarked on Saturday at a function to release CDs of Bose’s favourite songs, advising people should focus on his vision instead.

“We are all very keen on what these papers bring out. There is certain interest in them, like we are interested in what happened at the end of an Agatha Christie novel. That’s not the same thing as being inspired by vision,” Amartya Sen told the media on Saturday.

It was clear that the veteran economist lamented that people are getting distracted by the speculation on how Bose died and forgetting his ideology.

“I am in favour of publication of all papers and I will read with the same interest as I read the newspapers to see whether it will rain in Santiniketan when I go there day after tomorrow. (But) it’s nothing compared with the vision Netaji gave us,” Sen added.
