As the weather remained erratic, choppers could make only a limited number of sorties to transport ration to disaster-affected districts such as Rudraprayag, Uttarkashi and Chamoli.
Meanwhile, a lake formed by the melting of glaciers at Satopanth in Chamoli district poses a threat to Badrinath, Joshimath and Karnaprayag.
“We have issued an alert following instructions from the state Disaster Management and Mitigation department,” said the Chamoli district magistrate, A Murugesan.
