The incident took place when the victims gave two coupons worth Rs. 1,600 each to the manager for availing a discount but the latter refused saying "two coupons cannot be clubbed together in one bill".

The argument between the manager and Delhi resident Sanjeev Jaiwal escalated when two bouncers interfered and allegedly manhandled him. A case was later registered at the Sector-29 police station against the bar owners and two bouncers.

A police official said, "On Friday night, Jaiwal along with his friends came to D Beer Factory at JMD Mall. After consuming liquor, he gave two coupons to the waiter for availing a discount. The waiter returned after a few minutes and said the two coupons cannot be adjusted one one bill."

Refuting the charges, D Beer Factory owner Paramjeet Singh, said, "It was a minor issue over coupons. Two coupons cannot be clubbed together in one bill. The customer later paid the bill and went away. The fight did not take place on the premises of the restaurant but outside the mall."
