Boy jumps before running train, dies

A 15-year-old boy Raju committed suicide by flinging himself before a running train at Chaufatka railway crossing here on Monday. A resident of the same area Raju was a member of a band party and also used to carry light on his head during marriage processions.

What caused him to take this extreme step could not be known. Sources said, when some persons saw Raju standing in the middle of the track and approaching goods train they tried to save him but Raju started hurling stones at them. As a result those who were trying to save him retraced their steps.

Sources said, people often commit suicide in the same area.

They are also run over by passing trains at times. More than two dozen persons were run over by passing trains last year.
