Boy trampled to death by elephant

One person has been arrested in Erode after he was found in possession of some explosive materials, police said.

A three-year-old boy was trampled to death by a wild elephant in Thalawady forest area in the district.

Najeeth was going home with his father on a two-wheeler when the elephant attacked them near Pulinjur last evening, forest officials said on Saturday.

Both of them fell down from the vehicle following which the elephant trampled the child. The boy’s father rushed him to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him dead.
