The facelift brace is the alternative to the fearful necessity of going under the knife to turn the clock back, it is claimed. And at £2,500 it comes relatively cheap, considering the cost of the cosmetic surgery.
Worn on the teeth, the device called Oralift, it is claimed, stretches the skin across the face and thus helps smooth out wrinkles and tackle sagging jowls. By training the teeth into a different position it is claimed to boost the flow of blood and oxygen to the muscles of the face and neck and start the healing process.
The brace, which is tailor-made to fit in the lower jaw, works by building up the height of the back teeth. It has been developed by Dr Nick Mohindra, a dentist in central London. "People spend a fortune on cosmetic surgery, which does not always have the desired result and can occasionally prove disastrous.
"Oralift sculpts the face without the need of the scalpel, using the body's natural healing processes and is completely safe," he told a daily.
His principle is simple. Normally, the gap between the upper and lower teeth, known as the freeway space, is between one and three millimetres. Separating the teeth with the Oralift forces the facial muscles to a new larger space. It can be worn at night but women get the best benefit by also wearing it in daytime.

But in a study by Mohindra, 80 per cent of patients given a dental facelift based on a similar technique were judged to look five to 20 years younger.
