Talking to mediapersons here on Sunday, All India Brahmin Federation general secretary Kota Shanker Sharma said the Shankaracharyas of the Shringeri Peeth, the Kanchi Kamkoti Peeth, the Badri Peeth, the Puri Peeth and the Dwarika Peeth would participate in the convention. They would attempt to make the government realise that Brahmins should get their rights, he added.
“Around 20 lakh Brahmins would participate in the proposed convention,” he claimed.

“Brahmins throughout the country are feeling insecure. They feel insulted,” he said. He added, “Brahmins are the intellectual property of the nation, but they have become weak and meek socially, politically, economically and religiously.”
“Merit, which is commonly possessed by Brahmins, besides hardwork with loyalty and sincerity, is being ignored, killed and set aside because of the present reservation system,” he claimed. He strongly advocated a reservation system on the basis of economic condition, rather than caste or religion.
