"Army would want DRDO to prove the capabilities of the missile before we move the proposal to the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) for purchasing of missiles from them," Army sources said here.

Meanwhile, DRDO on its part promised to prove the capabilities of the block II version of the Indo-Russian joint venture missile in next trials.

"We are confident that the capabilities of the Block II version would be proved in the next trials and it would be fully developed and a proven system in next six months' time," DRDO officials said.

The missile is expected to be test-fired around the second week of the month. They said the company would be able to start deliveries of the 240 missiles order from the Army in two years from now as per the original schedule.

About the problems with the missile, officials claimed that there was a "small defect" in the homing system of the missile, which they expected to be rectified in the next tests in February.
