Justifying her demand, the senior CPM leader said that the role of state police in the entire episode was suspicious. “The state police have no credibility and are totally polluted and prejudiced and that’s why there was a need for a CBI probe,” Karat pointed out and informed that she had a talk with the union Home minister, Shivraj Patil on it.

After visiting the village, Kherlangi, some 100 kms from here, Karat said that a reign of terror prevailed in the village and no one was ready to speak about the incident. The entire village has been turned as a police chaoni, she added.

She demanded to set up a fast track court to expedite the case and all the concerned police personnel and doctors, who performed the post mortems, be prosecuted immediately.

Meanwhile, the RPI (Kawade), chief Jogendra Kawade demanded to dissolve the DF government and impose a President rule in the wake of such barbaric incident. “Atrocities on dalits are increasing day by day under the DF regime. Dalits are now insecure in the regime and that’s why this state government should be dissolved immediately,” he insisted.

He warned that if such dalit killing is continued in the state, the RPI (K) would set up an armed dalit squad for giving a befitting reply to attackers by January next. “A special arms training to dalit activists would also be given for the purpose,” he claimed.
