Brisk voting recorded in Jogi's constituency

Brisk voting was witnessed in Marwahi constituency of Chhattisgarh from where Chief Minister Ajit Jogi is contesting the assembly poll amid unprecedented security.

Brisk voting was witnessed in the Marwahi constituency of Chhattisgarh from where Chief Minister Ajit Jogi is contesting the assembly poll.

"There was 15 to 20 percent of voting within the first two hours of polling," said an official of the state Election Commission.

Pitted against Jogi in his home turf is Nand Kumar Sai of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Sai, the leader of the opposition in the assembly, is the BJP's chief ministerial candidate.

Two reasons are being cited for the brisk voting at Marwahi.

One is the use of electronic voting machines that speeded up the entire process.

Secondly, most voters in the constituency are farmers, who are eager to rush to their fields for harvesting after casting their vote.
