Talib Hussain, a Mirpuri Kashmiri, has been elected as the Councillor for the Birmingham City Council.
A Liberal Democrat, Hussain, took the Sparkbrook ward at the recent local elections. The 48-year-old has also been killed twice on screen while chasing Hollywood heroes. He has been an action man in a James Bond film, with dreams of Bollywood.
A father-of- four, Hussain had starred in the 1983 James Bond movie Octopussy as one of the murderous thugs who assault Roger Moore on his island retreat, but later dies after being struck with a poisoned dart in the neck. He also acted in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, where he chased Harrison Ford through a maze of tunnels in a mineshaft cart and finally died after the cart crashed into a wall. He has also played minor roles in Sir Richard Attenborough’s Gandhi and the ITV series Jewel in the Crown.
The action man who defected from Labour party earlier this year said: "I attended drama college at the Mime and Speech Centre in Birmingham before getting my first role in Gandhi. My agent then got me a role in Octopussy. It was a real thrill acting alongside Roger Moore in the beautiful setting of Rajasthan in India.
"Television work followed but I have always had an interest in local politics, having lived in my constituency for 33 years after emigrating from Kashmir."

{{/usCountry}}Talib had to bow out of all the screen action due to arthritis. He could not pursue his Bollywood ambition either, for different reasons though. He said: "I was tempted to try and make it big in Bollywood but it would have meant emigrating to India which I didn’t really want to do."
