There is no doubt that design, execution and management of the BRT corridor is full of loopholes. But efforts should be made to rectify them rather than to scrap the system altogether. BRT corridors are more useful than MRT systems. The government should not discard the system but work hard to educate the people and help streamline the project.

The BRT corridor is in chaos. The road designated for special buses is narrow and dangerous. Now the government wants to scrap the scheme after spending crores on it. Our officials import such ideas from abroad with little original thinking. They tend to local conditions.

Weighty issue

The report Obe-city: 13% Delhi kids at risk (April 23) is shocking and the issue needs urgent attention. The propensity of children munching on packaged chips and fast foods make the case so alarming. These foods should be avoided and
physical activity must be encouraged by parents. The government should appoint health instructors in schools to keep a check on the health of children.
