A GROUP of women organisations have expressed apprehension that there is a conspiracy against the tribal woman Kamla Bai and her family and demanded a high-level enquiry into the rape and hand chopping incident.
Sandhya Shaili, Neena Sharma and Arti Pandeya of Akhil Bharatiya Janwadi Mahila Samiti, Asha Midhra and Prerna of Samta Mahila Manch and Sudipa Das of AIWID visited Nigri village and also met Kamla Bai at the hospital later.
In a press release issued here the team said that situation in Nigri was shocking. It seemed that the conspiracy against Kamla Bai and her family was still on and it would not be safe for the victimised family to stay on there.
The organisations said some persons of the village were rather too willing to speak about `bad character’ of Kamla Bai and her sister Mamta in detail.
It seemed that some people had been tutored to speak against the family and those who wanted to speak the truth were not allowed to come forth, the activists added.
