BSF officer hurt in sniper fire from across the border

A Border Security Force (BSF) officer was injured in a sniper fire from across the border in Hiranagar area of Kathua district on Thursday. It was the first incident of ceasefire violation in Jammu region in the past about one month. The last incident of ceasefire violation was reported in BG sector in Poonch on November 22.

A Border Security Force (BSF) officer was injured in a sniper fire from across the border in Hiranagar area of Kathua district on Thursday.

A BSF official said there was sniper fire from across the international border, in which sub-inspector Jatinder was hit. He was immediately shifted to Government Medical College Hospital here, where his condition was stated to be stable.

It was the first incident of ceasefire violation in Jammu region in the past about one month. The last incident of ceasefire violation was reported in BG sector in Poonch on November 22.

There have been 196 incidents of cease fire violations this year, while last year the number was 93.

Twenty eight terrorists have been killed along the LoC during infiltration. Fifteen army personnel were injured and one died during ceasefire violations this year, while last year only six were injured.
