DIG of BSF, A K Singh said, "They were employed in motor transport wing of Bangladesh police and posted in Dhaka. They came to see relatives in a border village of Comilla district and had entered Indian Territory by mistake on Tuesday morning."

They were released on the day itself as nothing mischievous was found, he said.

Asked whether Bangladeshi villagers abducted two Indian farmers on the same day from neighbouring Nirbhaypur village in retaliation of the apprehension of the two Bangladeshi police personnel, Singh said a flag meeting would be held between BSF and BDR at Srimantapur Border Outpost (BOP) this afternoon and the farmers would be returned to BSF.
