DG BSF Raman Srivastava told reporters here that the marine battalion has been on patrolling duty "in water related other locations but it would be deployed in sea for the first time".

He said initially, the BSF had been given responsibility to keep vigil in an 82-km stretch from Maidi to Kakhau.

The DG arrived in Jaisalmer on Wednesday and was received by BSF IG K L Meen and DIG B R Meghwal. He also visited famous Tanot temple in Jaisalmer on Thursday morning.
