BUSINESS MAN Alok Kumar is a harried man, running from pillar to post for no fault of his. He never applied for a BSNL mobile phone connection nor did he ever own one, but the BSNL is sending bills to him!

He has been sent bill (for period 10/11/2005 to 30/11/2005) at his address 314/1-C-4, New Mirza Mandi, for the mobile phone No 9450903910, Account No 107122136 and Invoice No 406422985. Significantly, the connection has been issued under Plan 100 meant for Government and PSU employees. But Kumar, a businessman, has nothing to do with government job.
“I was shocked when I received the bill,” said he. When he started investigating the matter, he found that the application form had been deposited with the Rama Infotech, a BSNL franchisee. He further said that some one, while submitting the form, had attached a photo-copy of his election photo identity card and also a document certifying Alok Kumar, the applicant, to be an employee of the UP Rajya Karmchari Kalyan Nigam. The certificate was issued by deputy director Anuj Kumar, he claimed. He argued how the BSNL could issue a connection to him when he was not even eligible for the scheme.
DGM (Mobile) Mahendra Srivastava said the bill had been issued to Alok Kumar because some one had applied for the connection, though it could be a fake application. He, however, said the department would check the matter with the address verification agency.
