BSNL declares 2007 as ?Broadband Year?

BSNL HAS declared the year 2007 as ?Broadband Year? and introduced several schemes for the users in the new year. The company also declared that its mobile customer base in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh has crossed the 10-lakh mark.

BSNL HAS declared the year 2007 as ‘Broadband Year’ and introduced several schemes for the users in the new year. The company also declared that its mobile customer base in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh has crossed the 10-lakh mark.

A spokesman for the company said here that BSNL had increased the speed of Internet to 2 MBPS recently and plans to invest Rs 2000 crore to strengthen broadband services this year. The plans also include providing broadband connections in 1000 cities and 20,000 villages in the next two years.

BSNL will provide broadband services in high schools and public health centres this year. Wireless broadband service ‘Wi-Max’ will be provided in 1000 block headquarters by the end of 2007. The limit of free download under Home 250-plan was increased to 1000 MB and under Plan-700 it will now be 4 GB.

BSNL will now provide CLI telephone instruments to its landline customers and also expand the mobile network capacity soon. It has introduced 100 percent talk value scheme for pre-paid users on recharge of Rs 541 and Rs 1124. The top-up vouchers, now called Super top-up will offer talk value of Rs 150 on top-up of Rs 112, talk value of Rs 350 on top-up of Rs 224 and talk value of Rs 1000 on top-up of Rs 561.

The company will restart its ‘Dial Free’ and ‘Free Phone’ schemes and landline connection at Re 1 in rural areas for a period of 15 days from January 15.
