Several harried consumers are running from pillar to post at BSNL office to know the reason of barring of the calls. A harassed Cell One consumer Hardev Tiwari with connection No 9415308148 who has paid all the bills till December 2005 was suddenly deprived of the outgoing calls facility by BSNL. However, when Tiwari complained about it to the officials and wanted to know the reasons of barring the call, he was told that his bill for the month of June 2005 had not been deposited till date. On producing the relevant documents and cheque number paid to this effect by him he was told that the cheque was not cleared.

The consumer asked the senior officials as to why he had not been informed immediately, they could give satisfactory reply.

He asked the officers as to why he was informed about it although six months have elapsed. However, he deposited the said amount by cash on December 30 but he still waited to get restored his outgoing call. Finding no solution he complained to General Manager PK Srivastava this evening.

The GM said after 48 hours of depositing the bill the line is restored immediately.

Interestingly, in this case more than 80 hours had passed after clearing the bill but the outgoing call facility was not restored. However when the GM swung into action the outgoing facility was restored within one hour this evening.

Despite having received the CD containing the bill records from Chandigarh server on time, the local officials failed to update the bill at local level server.

Around 22,000 Cell One consumers in the city area get their bill from the local office. In case of non-delivery of bills, these consumers pay the amount through SMS received from BSNL only.

BSNL has failed to make ensure the delivery of bills at right time and in some cases despite submission of cheques on time, balance is shown in their next bills.
