A delegation of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), comprising state president Tulsi Dass Langeh and state general secretary Rakesh Wazir met the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) project director RP Singh and apprised him of problems faced by people of the areas through which the highway is passing.
Various grievances of the villagers, such as the linking of old village roads with the highway, adopting equal yardsticks for barricading, cuts on the highway, service roads, and ways to commercial establishment etc were put forth in the meeting.
The leaders complained that while erecting barricades, different yardsticks have been adopted at areas like Chadwal, Bari Brahmana, Kunjawani, Channi Himmat, Sidhra, Jagti, Suketar and other areas which need to be removed immediately.
"At many places, the service roads made do not match with the plans of the NHAI and needs to be checked and corrected," said a member of the delegation.
They further apprised Singh that areas recommended by the Jammu deputy commissioner for cuts on the highway were ignored. The delegation requested that all those cuts be provided at the earliest because "people are facing lot of problems in their absence".
The project director gave on the spot directions for implementation of most of the items, and assured to redress the rest of the issues raised by the delegation at the earliest.
