Bahujan Samaj Party supporters who wanted to take the identity cards collectively, were disallowed by the additional district magistrate finance- revenue and assistant election officer Ram Lochan Yadav. This irritated the BSP activists. Yadav was firm that without verifying the members individually he would not give the cards.

However, he said a total of 43 members out of 75 were given the identity cards till 3 pm today.

The rest would be given the cards on Thursday because of Tehsil Day on Wednesday.

BSP members, however, alleged of being harassed by the district administration. They also refused to take personal security.

To recall, district magistrate/ district returning officer Amrit Abhijat had asked the newly elected Panchayat members to take part in the election in peaceful atmosphere.

Addressing the Panchayat members at Vikas Bhawan here on Friday, he had said the district administration would provide security to them while going to cast their vote.

He said photo identity cards would be issued to every member by the district administration as per directives issued by the State Election Commission.
