Addressing a meeting at Nishlaul in Maharajganj district, Gandhi said even as the Centre sent funds for welfare programmes like MNREGA, they were not reaching the people because of corruption.
Later in the day at Kushinagar, Congress workers and a group of youths, allegedly belonging to the SP, clashed after the youths raised slogans against Gandhi. "I have come from Allahabad to oppose what Rahul had said about people of UP. We are not beggars," said one of the youths, Amit.
