A CASUAL approach and lack of coordination among the players resulted in the defeat for hosts Barkatullah University (BU) in the league round of the South West Zone Inter-University Basketball Tournament being organised on Major Dhyanchand Grounds.
Playing in the first tie of the league round against Kannur, BU team came up with a dismal performance. Though it had qualified handsomely by thumping Coimbatore yesterday, it failed in every department of the game today.
On the other hand, Kannur maintained their brilliance by playing as per expectations. Except N Prasanna, all other BU players failed even to control the ball.
Maintaining her good run in the championship, Prasanna scored 16 points in the 26-49 defeat faced by Bhopal University. The story was the same for BU in the second match against Mysore as well. Once again, N Prasanna took the onus of leading
the team.
Her performance could be gauged from the fact that she scored 22 out of the total 29 points scored by her team. BU lost the match by a margin of 29-49.
Both Kannur and Mysore won their matches today. In its second match, Kannur defeated defending champions Kottayam. However, this time Kannur had to work hard as they won the nail-biting tie by 71-70. Mysore registered their second win by drubbing MG Kottayam by a margin of 60-51.
