According to Yechury, Bhattarcharjee had conveyed to Chidambaram that there was no need for a probe by the CBI till the probe by police is over.

“The home minister held a discussion with the West Bengal chief minister. Buddhadeb told him the state police have almost cracked the case and if the case is handed over to the CBI, it will delay the investigation. Both agreed to wait till the report comes,” the CPM leader said.

Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee has been demanding a CBI inquiry, which she blames on political rivals.
