Looks like the elusive criminal Devinder Singh Bunty, better known as Bunty Chor, has discovered greener pastures and quite literally too.
After a notorious stint in the Capital, Bunty Chor — who has been involved in more than 500 theft cases and managed to give police the slip on several occasions — has struck again and this time down south in Kerala, claim police.
The hi-tech burglary was carried out in a house turned fortress of an NRI businessman V Venugopalan Nair in the early hours of Monday in Thiruvananthapuram.
The burglar had cut through a bullet-proof glass door, deactivated security cameras and alarms and decamped with a Rs.25-lakh SUV, a laptop worth Rs. 1.05 lakh, two mobile phones, a gold ring worth Rs.15,000 and Rs.2000 in cash.
The biggest steal —the Mitsubishi Outlander —was fitted with a GPRS, but he jammed that as well.

When Nair and his family, who slept through the entire operation, woke up in the morning, they discovered they had been robbed.

In fact, when the CCTV footage was flashed on television, a city hotel informed the police that a person resembling the burglar had been staying at their hotel for the past one week.
He had reportedly registered himself as Devinder Singh, a resident of Vikas Puri, New Delhi.
Bunty had been last arrested in January 2012 from the old city area of Bhopal following a tip off. He was handed over to the Delhi Police but later jumped bail.
