India and US will try to iron out wrinkles appearing in the last lap of the Congressional process for firming up a legislation on the Indo-US civil nuclear deal in talks in New Delhi on Thursday between Under Secretary of State Nicholas Burns and top Indian officials.

Burns, who arrives in New Delhi early on Thursday morning, will hold wide-ranging discussions with Foreign Secretary Shivshankar Menon for taking forward the Indo-US strategic dialogue.

The US official will also meet Shyam Saran, Prime Minister's special envoy on the nuclear issue, to explain efforts being made by the Bush Administration to reconcile the Bills passed by the House of Representatives and the Senate before finalising a legislation for approval of the US Congress.

The two will hold discussions on the bilateral '123' Agreement, which is the operational pact on the civil nuclear deal. The talks are expected to focus on those aspects of the proposed legislation on which India has voiced concern.
