According to police, Owais, 15, a resident of Aishbagh, was going to meet his grandmother at Roshanpura along with his friend, Ayaz, on a cycle when the bus hit him.

At the crossing near the mazaar Ayaz suddenly turned to the wrong side and came in the way of the Sehore-Bhopal mini bus that was going towards Jawahar Chowk.

While Ayaz fell on the road and was saved, the lower part of Owais’ body came under the rear wheel of the bus and his feet and abdominal region were crushed.

Seeing the condition of the injured boy the anger of the residents was fuelled. The crowd caught hold of the driver and beat him up. The windowpanes of the bus were smashed and the mob pelted stones at the bus. The injured boy was rushed to the hospital where his condition remains critical.

The police intervened and rescued the driver from the mob but someone in the crowd took out the fuel kept in a container in the bus and sprinkled it before setting the bus ablaze.
