WHAT MADE the family members, close relatives, friends and acquaintances of slain LPS owner CP Singh to keep mum over the murder?
None of them was ready to discuss the issue with the police.
Those having a cordial relation with Singh included a top official in the Education Department, owners of some leading educational institutions and a few politicians. Significantly, some persons having criminal antecedents too used to visit Singh frequently.
Top cops have formed four separate teams each led by a sub-inspector (S-I) to collect details on different probable clues. One of the teams was dispatched to Singh’s native place in Unnao on Friday morning. The cops came to know there that Singh’s first wife had married another man in Agra after the divorce 16 years back. Singh had kept his one-and-half-year-old son with him.
The police team further came to know Singh had 35 bighas of ancestral land and he had no property dispute with his siblings. The police team could not retrieve any clues which could help the investigation.
Another team was given task to collect information about dispute, if any, between CP Singh and his business rival(s). The cops were probing if the issue of sharing name of the school—-LPS had been resolved with his relative SP Singh. The latter too has a chain of schools across the city and in adjacent districts in the same name. The police team has been asked to collect documents related to the dispute pending with a government department.
