"We have resumed operation after taking into account the statements of some militant organisations describing the ban as uncalled for," a cable operator said on the condition of anonymity.

He said Harkat-ul-Mujahideen, Al Madina, Jaish-e-Mohammed and Al Badr -- the four militant outfits which had imposed the ban, announced its lifting in local newspapers on Sunday.

"In addition, we came to know that more groups were in favour of resumption of operations and therefore it has been decided by the cable network association to beam programmes, barring some entertainment channels, including Star Movies, AXN, Reality TV and Star World.
