According to district magistrate and returning officer Dr Hariom, the administration had decided to conduct videography of the voting process.

Simultaneously, photography of voters will be conducted to issue them photo identity cards. Para medical forces have already reached here to be deployed at sensitive polling stations.

It is to be noted that the polling will be held on March 25 and counting of votes will be held on March 27. Around 350 electronic voting machines (EVMs) have reached here. However, 200 machines were found out of order and the administration had ordered for repairing of these machines.

According to sources, the State Election Commission had been informed regarding the defects in the EVMs and had been directed to arrange EVMs from Azamgarh district. Meanwhile, training of the presiding officer and election duty employees will be held here on March 18 and 19 at Mahewa Mandi in the first phase, while in the second phase the polling parties will leave for their respective polling stations on March 24.

BJP MP Adityanath organised various meetings in the area and appealed to the people to support Shital Pandey. He flayed the State government for persuading the policies of appeasement of minorities. Rebel BJP candidate Upendra Dutt Shukla said there was a sympathy wave in his favour as people were expecting that BJP would field him as the official candidate.
