IN A last minute bid to woo voters candidates of all political parties carried out a secret door-to-door campaign in the city.

All the frontline political parties including the Bharatiya Janata Party, Congress and Samajwadi Party (SP) constituted special teams to carry out the secret campaign to ensure victory of their mayoral candidates.
Union Minister of Sate for Home Sriprakash Jaiswal personally visited several prominent people to ensure their support for the party’s mayoral candidate Badri Narain Tewari while Tewari himself visited several areas including the slum colonies of Fazalganj, Zarib Chowki, Brahma Nagar, Sarsaiya ghat and Phoolbagh of the city to solicit votes. Local Congress leaders carried out the door-to-door campaign in the city’s southern areas also.
BJP leaders constituted several teams and carried out the campaign in several areas of the city. Activist of the frontal organisations of the party played a major role in the campaign.
Leaders of the SP too made frantic efforts to woo voters. Prominent leaders of the party were involved in the campaign. Senior SP leader Surendra Mohan Agarwal along with district president of the party Nasiruddin visited several Muslim dominated areas of the city to solicit votes for the mayoral candidate of the party Neeraj Chaturvedi.
The unofficial Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidate Salim along with his supporters visited all Muslim dominated areas of the city to seek votes.

{{/usCountry}}The desperation to reach out to maximum number of voters especially to those who wield influence in their respective areas was clearly evident on the faces of all prominent leaders of whose reputation is at stake.
Frantic efforts were also made by the BJP and the SP to influence the votes of the traders’ community. Prominent trader leader and four-time BJP MP Shyam Behari Mishra and senior SP leader and trader leader of the state Surendra Mohan Agarwal made last minute bid to influence traders in their favour.
